Porsche 911

The Porsche 911 stands as the most recognizable sports car in history. The Porsche 911 was originally released way back in 1963 when it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the 901. It was renamed the 911 when offered for sale in 1964. Its air-cooled flat 6-cylinder motor delivered a 130hp and gave the light weight rear engine chassis an impressive 131mph top speed at the time.

In 1960, Porsche made the 911 S variant that had 160hp and was the first car to sport the highly desired and iconic Fuchs alloy wheels. Porsche produced various sub models of the first generation 911, such as the 911E, 911L, and the 911T. The pinnacle of the first generation 911 was the highly sought after 911 Carrera RS with the 210hp 2.7 liter engine in 1972. Its characteristic “ducktail” spoiler was the world’s first rear spoiler on a production vehicle. Since then, the essential design hasn’t changed in half a century and the performance never ceases to amaze the automotive public. Rear engine and all business, the 911 has spawned numerous iterations from the 930 Turbo to the mid-engine Boxster and Cayman, the Sublime 959, to the insane GT2, GT3, and GT4.
